Dr Young Pore Eraser Balm Review

Dr Young Pore Eraser Balm comes in a round jar that blocks light from reaching it. Upon opening it, I find that this buff-coloured balm has a full-bodied, nutty scent, which I’m guessing comes from the Shea Butter ingredient.

The pore eraser balm has a mousse-like consistency, and feels light to the touch. I do not use it all over my face though; only problem areas like my nose, both cheeks and a little on my forehead, where I have the most visible pores and shiny skin.

This is my ‘Before’ photo (after my sunscreen, the last step in my skin care and before any make-up):

Large pores on nose and esp. left cheek (on your right).

Note the large pores on nose and cheeks, particularly on my left cheek (to your right).

And these are all my ‘After’ photos:

Immediately after application. Nose pores nicely filled in. Left cheek still a tad glossy.

Immediately after smoothing on Dr Young Pore Eraser Balm on problem areas: Nose pores are nicely filled in. Left cheek still looks a tad glossy.

Let’s see what happens after 30 minutes:

After 30 minutes. Left cheek pores nicely filled in; skin looks super matte!

After 30 minutes: Left cheek pores (to your right) are nicely filled in, and skin looks matte-lovely (à la Xiaxue style, couldn’t resist)!

Here’s a good look at the ‘Before’ and ‘After 30 minutes’ photos side-by-side:

Isn’t the difference dramatic? And all the photos here are original, without any retouching!

Here are some make-up shots:

This was after sleeping in it, waking, and putting on make-up. It must have been at least 2 hours later. Make-up looks smooth and even, despite not using any base (BB cream, primer, foundation or what-not).
I know, I’ve got some zits, but that’s beside the point. Dr Young Pore Eraser Balm works!

Lovely, smooth, matte, pore-less skin is now yours to have with Dr Young Pore Eraser Balm!
Simply smooth over large pores and shiny areas like I did, and voilà!

Hi, is this corrective or does it just serve to conceal the pores? Also, is it leave-on or supposed to wash off? Thanks

  • Louisa Koh

    Hi Samantha,

I believe this product is more of a cosmetic/make-up concealing product, rather than skin care. Although it contains skin care ingredients like Swiss Alpine Herb extract & Witch Hazel extract which help to control sebum and tighten pores when you are using it, I don’t think it will have a permanent effect like for e.g. if you went for laser or aesthetic procedures to shrink pore size.

This product is meant for use when you go out, so do treat it like make-up and wash off before bed. Hope that helps!

Hey there. I just bought this product and now am wondering if i should be using this for acne prone skin. Did you experience any breakout after applying this? Thanks 🙂

  • Louisa Koh

Hi Ana, I didn’t seem to have any breakouts from this product despite my skin being rather acne-prone as well. I don’t use it very often though so I am not sure if I can comment on regular daily use… but this product contains some silicones. My own serum I use contains silicones too and I have no problems with silicones breaking me out. Hope that helps!
