SHILLS Aqua Skin Moisturizing Spray

A 30-something from sunny Singapore who's tried her hand at lots of things, such as selling skin care & make-up, working in a (boring) corporate setting, trying to carve a singing career, giving private tuition, being a fitness instructor, writing/editing etc...

Besides exasperating her parents to no end, she loves experimenting with new make-up looks, uncovering the best make-up & skin care products, modelling for herself before the camera, singing at the top of her lungs (with preferably no one to hear it), and writing whatever, whenever (as you can already tell).

Australian Swaps Part I

Hey my lovelies! It has been a while now. I apologise for the hiatus. I’ve been busy the last 3 months, and will most likely be busier down the road!

This one is long overdue. Sometime late last year, around mid November (4 months ago! IKR), I took part in a swap with Nannanap, an Aussie-based beauty blogger.

Search for the elusive China Glaze DV8

How it all came about was my search for the elusive China Glaze DV8 holo polish. I was in a holo phase back then, and was lemming CG DV8 from the OMG collection so bad. Take a look at The Swatchaholic’s swatches of CG DV8 to see what I mean.

And so I went on a determined hunt for it. EvilBay was out, most of the nail shops overseas that had it didn’t ship to Singapore. My only hope left was a blog sale or a swap.

After stalking Google for a bit, I finally found a recent swap post put up by Nannanap.

Lo and behold! My precious DV8!

We emailed a few times back and forth, as I strived to get her items on her wish list. You can read her swap post here (she’s got it up a lot earlier than I did!)

The swap box

Without further ado, let me present you the swap box I received:

Generous much? Nannanap included these polishes for me: Top row, from left to right: China Glaze DV8, China Glaze IV, Essence Got A Secret, Essence Movie Star, Essence Blue Addicted (another reason I was so excited, because this is a well-known dupe for Deborah Lippmann’s Across the Universe), Ulta3 Antique Copper, Tropez and Mermaid Green.

Bottom row, from left to right: Chic chic polish (Hong Kong brand) #47, #32, #12 and COCO nail lacquer in an unnamed red/coral.

That’s not all! She was really sweet, and added all this candy and accessories for me:

Needless to say, the candy didn’t last long! πŸ˜› Thank you so much Nannanap! πŸ˜€

Swatches Galore

Admittedly, I haven’t got around to swatching some of the colours, like China Glaze IV, Essence Movie Star, Chic Chic #47 and the COCO nail lacquer. *insert sheepish face*

But, to make up for posting this so late, here are some swatches of the rest I’ve posted on my Instagram and Facebook. It’s all pics from here, so enjoy!!

Linear holo goodness of China Glaze DV8. Gorgeousness in a bottle!

China Glaze DV8’s teal holo gorgeousness on my nails!

This one was China Glaze DV8 with Essence Blue Addicted glitter French tips

Essence Got A Secret. Pardon the imperfections, caused by my gloopy Seche Vite

The best way to hide Seche-Vite-imperfections is to stamp on it. I used Illamasqua Snap as stamping polish, with Konad imitation plates from Born Pretty Store

A mattified version, with Essie Matte About You applied on top of Seche Vite after stamping

This manicure was done recently, to mark World Water Day and Earth Hour. Thumb, index and pinkie feature Essence Blue Addicted, while accent ring fingernail was OPI Polka.com over black polish. Black polish on middle finger

This hand was a reverse mani of the other hand (pic above). Essence Blue Addicted on ring fingernail, with OPI Unfor-greta-bly Blue on middle finger. Rest of fingernails feature OPI Polka.com over black polish

Had to add a flakie on top of middle finger with black polish. Flakie was Nfu Oh 49. I thought the flashes of green, orange and yellow were very appropriate for Earth Hour

On the other hand, I had to add another flakie to the dull blue: Zoya Opal. Zoya Opal was amazing over blue and really complemented Essence Blue Addicted on ring fingernail

Last, but not least, here are some one-finger swatches of Ulta3 Tropez, Ulta3 Mermaid Green, Chic chic #32, Chic chic #12 (love this rust brown) and Ulta3 Antique Copper (love this gold too!)

Thumb features Ulta3 Tropez, while middle finger features Ulta3 Mermaid Green, and ring finger Chic chic #32. The index finger was of Essence Peach Beauty from the Fruity TE (not from swap)

Left finger features Chic chic #12 (rust brown) while right features Ulta3 Antique Copper (gold)

That’s all folks! Hope you enjoyed the swatches!

I’ve done an Easter swap recently, with another Aussie beauty blogger, and that one will be coming up soon too, since I just received the package today!

Wheee!!! Stay tuned! πŸ˜€
